BETA OPEN: Custom 404

THAT’S RIGHT. CUSTOM 404, YALL!

You guys asked. And well, Wix made it. Here is how you can do it:1. Create a page in the editor and name it "error404"2. Make sure to hide the page from the menu3. Make sure your site is UPGRADED. This is a premium feature ONLY.

Example HERE.

Awesome new feature great job ! Definetely something that I was waiting for !

But I noticed 2 little bugs on mobile :

  1. SVG files become crazy
  2. The Quick Action Bar doesn’t open

Hope that it will help before the official launching

Amazing stuff!! :sparkles::sparkles:

Thanks so much for this! I think in the FB group you’ll see how happy people are with this. I made my page, but I may have a bug since the Wix message also pops up.

Thanks for checking.

Really like it. On some sites there is a bug. The original designs shows and then in a second part of it disappears and shows “Go Home” in tiny fonts.

That’s one thing off your list! I’m sure that with time, the remaining four will also come to fruition!

Yeah, I’m having the same issue as Lorraine Lilley and Linda-Lou. Wix default 404 is showing up underneath my custom 404. Sometimes the layout changes around. It worked perfectly at first, now it does this.

Is it a possible to have a timed 404 redirect? Let’s say after 3 seconds being on the 404 page to redirect to the home page?

Since it is a page, you should be able to Add the HTML code element into your Editor.
Here are the steps.

I got the same thing when creating the 404 page. the orld one with a link to “home” is resized and appears on the left bottom corner.

maybe 301 redirect will work?

You can add a little code to do that:

I definitely LOVE this! Thank you developers!

Now I have to show you where I find some errors happening when the 404 error page is activated:

  • Anything with animation hides / does not work

  • Slides do not work

  • Anything with animation via the animation icon causes element to HIDE

These error do NOT happened when you are visit the actual live 404 page.

This the URL of actual 404 page:
https://www.totallycodable.com/error404

Here is video showing that it works well (could not upload it here):

This is the 404 page ‘activated’ when a URL is not found (could not upload it here):

Test link: https://www.totallycodable.com/this-is-weird

I’m experiencing the same weirdness as @nayeli …but not on every site.
My main site error404 page works every time, actual or 'activated:

Actual, using an animated gif:

Activated:
https://www.profoundprocess.com/this-is-weird

I get different results on this site:

https://profoundprograms.com/error404 (displays as designed)

https://profoundprograms.com/this-is-weird (gets more strange with each refresh–main image is tiled)

I understand this is in beta, so I don’t see offering this to clients until the bugs are worked out.

Thank you for the awesome feedback! All of the examples you’re providing will help improve this feature. :+1:
