In case you missed it you can watch it below! Please feel free to ask your questions and we will be answering them. I will compile the questions and add them to the QA in this main post.
QA:
Q: Can Editor X be used on existing websites? A: No - Editor X is a different editor.
Q: Does EditorX currently support Corvid? And all previous Wix Apps?
A: Yes and Yes! Editor X will support Corvid and the Business tools Wix provides!
Q: When will the beta be available?
A: EVERYONE - ALL regions - can apply right now at https://editorx.com - and we are hoping to start sending invites in the coming weeks! Stay tuned!
Q: If Editor X is a different editor, how do we access it?
A: In a similar fashion you would access ADI or Classic Editor - You will see. :)
Q: How do we apply Editor X to existing sites? A: Editor X will not work with existing sites.
Q: Will agency premiums still apply to Editor X created sites? A: Yes, but I would keep in mind this is still a beta. :)
Q: Will the eX be a pay to use service to design partners? A: The answer is yes, and on stage Nir eluded to Editor X being part of a larger package Wix is still building. There will be more on this - and it will be equally as exciting as Editor X. The beta, however, is free to apply. =)
Q: Will it be an option to transfer an existing Wix website to the new editor? or is this for new websites projects only?
A: Currently it is not possible. We will take this as a feature request and take it to the team!
Q: Should we start planning on moving "manually" our existing website to the new platform?
A: I wouldn’t plan on doing anything at this point but signing up to the beta! But, yes, Editor X is a completely different editor. If you want a site to have the capabilities of Editor X it must be created with Editor X.
Q: how much will it cost? will existing premium plans apply?
A: At this point there is no official pricing or structure for Editor X and how it might be packaged. We will update everyone when we have something more concrete.
Q: Will requests for people wanting to build a site on Editor X be designated as such?
A: Possibly - that’s an Arena feature request. As a designer you might offer the option to the client and it might also depend on their needs. That’s for you to decide. :)
Q: Can we build client sites in the beta with the new editor?
A: Yes you can, but keep in mind this is a beta.
Waiting..
Anxious...
why can't I find this?
excited
I'm interested to find out more and signed up for the beta. My biggest question now is if Editor X can be used on existing sites?
No - Editor X is a different editor. Good question!
Hey Brett!
Does EditorX currently support Corvid? And all previous Wix Apps?
Yes and Yes! Editor X will support Corvid and the Business tools Wix provides! I actually asked Roni that question at the QA :p
when the beta will be available?
Hi Lucas! We will start rolling out invitations to the closed beta in the next few weeks. :)
@Steven is it correct that users in the US will have first dibs, so to speak?
@Edward Bartels Scheffer Hi! It will be rolled out globally, once it is out of Beta.
This is so exciting and AMAZING! I do have a few questions:
1. If EditorX is a different editor how do we access it? Will it always be separate? Or, is it a tool we turn on and off like Corvid? How do we apply it to existing sites? Does this change the premium plan needed to run a responsive site?
2. What are the pricing plans for EditorX created websites?
3. Will Agency purchased premium business plans still apply to Editor X created websites?
Thank you!
you are asking the questions we all want to know @Melissa Winebrenner .
1: You will access it the same way you would ADI, classic editor, or Editor X. Existing sites will not automatically be on Editor X. 2: Pricing around editor x is not final; and all of the structure is still being built. Feedback is always welcome, though! 3: Yes - but keep in mind this is still a beta. I would treat this as as such. You know the drill!
Right big question, does the wix blog integrate in to new editor, and is it then also by default responsive?
The short answer is: yes. Wix applications will be responsive and with more time we will be adding a richer library of layouts for them! <3
It was awesome! Can't wait to try. Already submitted for Beta Test
So... I'm just guessing and trying to puzzle fit. 1. If eX (Editor X) is different that OE (Original Editor) , What happens to all of the websites that are designed in the Original e? 2. I'm just guessing .... but I would assume the OE is going to remain available to the DIY audience that Wix supports... meaning that as a partner - I will still be servicing people in the OE? OR... with the OE eventually disappear and we will be rebuilding client websites on the new eX? 3. Will the eX be a pay to use service to design partners? I sorta feel like this is where I see this going.
1: Classic Editor :) And I answered this - It's pinned at the top. Short Answer: Those sites are still beautiful and fully functional! 2: Classic editor will still continue to grow and support millions of users - There is no plan to discontinue the classic editor. If you have sites in the CE you will still be working inside it - or you can build something new with Editor X. 3: The answer is yes, and on stage Nir eluded to Editor X being part of a larger package Wix is still building. There will be more on this - and it will be equally as exciting as Editor X. The beta, however, is free to apply. =)
Ignore everything I said above.... so basically the new Editor X will be a pay to play system. Got it. I wonder how much it will be?
"Pay to Play"? If you listen carefully to what Nir said on stage the package he eluded to includes far more than Editor X. It's a... a lot more. :) Do you consider paying your cell phone service as "pay to play"? Wix is a business tool - wouldn't you agree? And the package is being constructed towards designers like you with Editor X as the centerpiece (but not the ONLY piece!). Weird choice of words. :)
@Brett Haralson it’s sounding like it’s going to be expensive...I hope I’m wrong
@James Geiger <3 Don't worry. =)
Hi! Will the beta have limited access? Or will it be available to everyone?
(If the beta version will be with limited access, then who will have priority in testing?)
Everyone is free to apply right now - It's wide open. WE will add as many people as we can, of course, but it takes time to roll out!
@Brett Haralson Thanks, I applied for access during the presentation. I hope the priority will be taken into account.
@Evgeniy Misyukov Remember Editor X was designed with YOU in mind. <3 I didn't answer directly, but I just answered you as directly as I could. =)
Will Wix Partner requests for people wanting to build a site on Editor X be designated be designated as such.
Hi Steven! This sounds like an arena request. It will possibly be an Arena feature. As a designer, you might offer the option to the client. It may also depend on their needs.
That’s for you to decide! :^)
This will give us that commercial-grade edge we needed to secure larger projects. ᕦ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)ᕤ
I have a question on your answer Brett - That you mentioned that using the editor will be paid. -Abit confused here-. So to use the editor we will have to pay? Currently - on this editor - we use it free (us designers) and then the client purchases the premium plan to host the website... Now both us as designers and the client will need to pay?Us to use the editor and the client to host the site?
I am not a Wix employee, but I think that the new editor will be focused on professional web designers and agencies. In this case, the monthly fee is absolutely normal. This is a professional tool, as are products from Adobe.
@Evgeniy Misyukov Webflow is also a tool for professionals but they dont charge to use the editor, they charge per project, once completed(a fee that the client pays.)
That was actually answered and pinned at the top! Scroll up. ;)
Maybe I'm a little ahead of time, but I'm very interested. On the page https://www.wix.com/editorx/betarequest I see the following message in the browser title: Request Beta Access | Stable 29.01.20
Does this mean that now the editor will support versions, and the update process will be more stable? If you are not ready to answer this question at the moment, no problem.
Versioning is coming up but is not related to eX :)
