I have a subscribe form with the double opt in enabled. I want to set up an email response automation once they have confirmed their email address, as I will be including a free PDF document in the email once they confirm their subscription.
I cannot figure out a way how to delay the email response UNTIL they confirm their email with the double opt-in. With the double opt-in, you would think that if I set up the automation to send an email immediately after a form is submitted that their would be a rule for the double opt-in that it would be sent immediately after they confirm their email with the opt-in and not when they initially provide their email. Thoughts on this?
Just to update this in case anyone else is interestedâŚI reached out to Wix. Currently, when you create an email automation to send an email confirmation when someone subscribes to your newsletter/mailing list, you cannot set a trigger for the email to be sent AFTER the person confirms their email when the subscribe double opt-in is enabled.
You only have the option to send it immediately after they submit the Subscribe Form or X number of days after the form is submitted. This does not work when you want to send a âThanks for Subscribing!â email AFTER they change from âpending subscriberâ to âsubscriberâ with the double opt-in. This is especially important when a free eBook, pdf document, etc is being offered when someone subscribes. You donât want to provide the free asset until they confirm their email in the double opt-in, but then you want to send the asset immediately, once they do complete the double opt-in.
Wix has advised me that they will be forward on this request.
Current workaround: In the submission form message or as a separate email automation, give a reminder that an email confirming subscription will need to be actioned to received the free ebook, etc. Once they confirm, you will need to manually send out the free document/ebook to them.
On the other hand, the double optin is especially interesting for the GDPR part, allowing you to justify that it is indeed the address of the user who made the request to be added to the newsletter. Otherwise he has little interest.
In your case, if I want to download your pdf, I just have to put a disposable email address, I validate the double in and I access this file.
Finally, if you automate the sending of pdf after the double in, the user who wants to put a fake email and access this document will be able to do so âŚ
This is why I had previously opened a post for Wix to work on the possibility of integrating a blacklist of an email address or disposable email. But I still donât have answers.
You can perhaps dig deeper into the subject of the âWorkflowâ side by creating an automation at a given stage
@tamara Has anything ever come of this, do you know? I do not see evidence of it anywhere in the Product Roadmap under âCollecting Votesâ or otherwise. And I donât see anything already posted in the Feedback:Wishlist section of this forum. Frankly, I canât find anything talking about this topic other than this thread.
Iâm very interested in this feature. If there is an existing request, Iâd rather add support for that instead of creating a duplicate request.
