Wix Multilingual

Hi,

why are there two types of subdomains in Wix Multilingual?

Example:
Some of our clients have this
[de.client.com](de.client.com
And)
[And](de.client.com
And) others have that
client.com/?lang=de

Furthermore, we had a weird problem with one of our clients, where we had Google Ads running in four languages with subdomains like de.client.com and fr.client.com
Then suddenly, these subdomains were inactive and the other type - like client.com/?lang=de - was activated. And of course the old links would lead to a 404 and had not been automatically forwarded. So, we had to change every single link in every Google Ad.
Of course we were lucky, because we discovered this by accident and because we were not informed that these changes in the subdomains took place.

Does anyone have a logical answer?

Thank you.

Hey there Abdulaziz,

These are the different formats used to redirect users to the Language, however the client.com/?lang=de is part of the older format. The new format, such as the de.client.com, would require a ticket to be submitted.

As for your SEO issues, Wix will need to look into the specific site to check the back end of things to see if there are any underlying issues. There can be several issues that may be affecting the SEO such as domain records, issues with the URL structure, etc. it would be best to have our Wix Customer Care Team take a further look.

I suggest opening a ticket for both these issues. If you want me to follow along to keep an eye either ticket please reply with your ticket #.
