First when a dataset has been connected to an image which is referenced from another data collection it works. But then when searching in the data collection and assigning new .data to the repeater all the referenced data dissapears from the repeater. We have the .include("ref data collection name") in the search code. Just wonder because it did work on Friday last week. Any ideas @Liran Kurtz (WIX) ? /Andreas #datacollection #repeater

Since last December I have been running the Wix Show site with more than 50 video tutorials and over 800 site members. What I didn't realize is that 90% of all people are Wix Designers starting to work with Wix Code. All this wonderful and skilled people have never used Javascript, HTML or CSS being the reason they choose Wix in favor of WordPress and others. So three days ago we launched our first WIXCODE TODAY video and yesterday we started the first one for true beginners. In this series you will be guided through the basics of the developer console, what is console.log and what is a promise? All these things will be taught to you on a beginners level. I need you to tell me what tutorials you want and what you think about the idea. They are all free at the moment so please. On this page the first three days are published and you can wish your next tutorial. https://www.wixshow.com/today

I guess you where just like me in chock over the launch yesterday on the 11th of December from Wix? This will increase your business so it is important that you understand and read about this product release. Wix released Wix Ascend! I have now walked through all parts of the Ascend suite and still find stuff that wows we off my chair. If you are a small business owner, employee or develop web sites for SMBs you really need to check this out and be sure you know it into it's core. This will change the online presence for you as a smb or the way your customers using Wix will do business online. One of my favorites is the new Price Quoting Feature that will convert accepted price quotas into invoices automatically. Another would be the feature to create and send coupons in the live chat without leaving it, awesome. Read and enjoy! http://wix.com/ascend/home PS If you want video tutorials on Wix Ascend just holler at hello@wixshow.com and I will see how many requests I get and maybe start up that too really soon. During the weekend I created a smaller discussion forum application. Not at all as the built in Wix Forum of course and it should not be compared in any way. My application has the following features: List all Discussion Groups with description, headline and an image on one page using a repeater. List all discussion threads under a Discussion Group and click Read to view one thread. See the post, read all the answers under the main question / post and click reply to answer. Create new posts in any Discussion Group. Now I am working on search facility, like button and the below will be done during the upcoming weekend. Click SPAM and if a post gets more than 10 clicks it will be removed for manual approval by forum admin. View only Discussion Groups connected to a user role that you belong to. Send triggered email when someone replies to a post made by you. If someone wants a video tutorial on this work I am thinking of making one, will be a bit long. Around 2 hours maybe in total but I believe it is a great way to learn Wix and Wix Code and how to make a simple forum application. This application should not replace the built in forum app but it can be used as a comment application for any Wix Code page you have or where you need some features not present in the built in Wix Forum App. Reply here if you are interested with your email or just send to hello@wixshow.com with the subject "FORUM APP TUTORIAL" and I will add you to the list. Happy Coding!

Hey everyone! So a clients site loading time was above 6 seconds according to Pingdom and around 20 seconds according to Test My Site from Google when tried at first. Then I thought I would try to make all strips collapsed at load time to make the page faster. Then one by one expanding while the user scrolls down on the page. This trick seem to work because the page was loaded in on 317 ms according to Pingdom and in 6 seconds according to Test My Site from Google. That is a huge difference so now to my question. Does this technique have any solid ground form the Wix Code team so we know that this is good procedure? Am I just lucky on this one or it is so called best practice to use this? I must also say that we used the Page Rendering System on both solutions but that did not have the affect we was hoping hope. I know Wix Code teams work hard on the rendering thing but just wanted to throw out this to get some feedback.

Hey For some reason I have a page which works great on Chrome, Safari on Mac and perfect on iOS also using onViewPortEnter and expand() and collapse(). But for some reason this does not work on the Android Tablet and Mobile Device. Is there any known issues on using onViewPortEnter on Android devices overall? #onViewPortEnter #Android

A user asked today how to connect a Codepen Fancy menu to Wix Code and make it work. I realized that many people might want some Codepens in their Wix sites so I wrote an article that will make you understand how you can and should take Codepens and use them inside Wix. https://uggadugg.wixanswers.com/en/article/creating-a-fancy-menu-from-codepen-in-wix-code

The new or at least just by me discovered getJSON works like a charm and is so super easy to use. But I just want to know from someone at Wix Code Team when is it recommended to use getJSON and when to use fetch. Is getJSON a pre made smaller set of wix-fetch maybe or is it the equivalent of jQuery? #getJSON #wixfetch

I have a client that has a system where all the users are registered with the e-mail they supply when they click ORDER. All users are stored with their email, first name, last name, phone and they all share the same password. There is no page where a user can login on the site so users are not used in the way they are supposed to. BUT Now comes the trick I am thinking of. By using Wix Code and the wixUsers.login I would think that I can send that user a triggered email and then log them out from the system using the wixUsers.logout(); and by doing this in a loop I could send triggered email to all users of the site as long as I have their email and passwords stored and accessible? Please someone comment on this trick to see if possible to pull off. If you think it would work it would be worth building but if not I am not spending the time doing it. I know we can all use emailjs or SendGrid and the templates they offer but I want my customers to be able to use Wix only as their business platform for digital things.

I don't know if I am a late bloomer or so but today I just found out that there is a time field type in Data Collection finally. You can know work with times in your applications without having to touch the date/time field.

If I use the data hook afterQuery that code affects the loading of the site and crashes the use of it's data collection. I thought that the data hooks would be executed on another thread than the actual page loaded. How come that this has this affect? If all data hooks are executed in the same thread as the page the usage of data hooks must be very limited and carefully thought through before used this way. #datahooks #afterQuery #datacollection

Really cool, a user clicks on a road, where they live or where they found some trash, I don't know but when they click on the map it will return the full formatted address to you. Hey I have the following logged record content and followed by an error in my developer console. { _id: 'fff55747-f004-42bc-8a41-3981a4453cb1', title: 'Trouble editing my site, can anyone help?', link: 'https://www.wix.com/code/home/forum/community-discussion/trouble-editing-my-site-can-anyone-help', comments: 0, likes: 0, views: 1, created: '7 minutes ago', recent: '7 minutes ago', author: 'xuda360  ', forum: 'Community Discussions', _createdDate: 2018-11-18T15:47:56.635Z, _updatedDate: 2018-11-18T15:47:56.635Z } Hook afterQuery for collection WixShowForumContent result ignored! Expected hook result to resolve to an object with an '_id' property, but got [Undefined] But as I see there is a _id in the content I get when console.log(item) and then I execute the below code and that don't work as expected. afterQuery function export function WixShowForumContent_afterQuery(item, context) { console.log(item); deleteSpam(item); } And the hook calls on deleteSpam sending in the item. export function deleteSpam(item) { if (item.title.toLowerCase().includes("http://") || item.title.toLowerCase().includes("https://") || item.title.toLowerCase().includes("free shipping") || item.title.toLowerCase().includes("buy") || item.title.toLowerCase().includes("wa-") || item.title.toLowerCase().includes("keto")) { wixData.remove("WixShowForumContent", item._id).then((removed) => { console.log(removed); }) } } And that does not work. Is it some limitations in the afterQuery hook?

Hey there! There is a lot of people that have been asking how can we export data from our Data Collections to a real MS Excel file. You can export data inside the data manager as CSV and then open that in MS Excel. But if you want this function for your clients / site visitors it hasn't been that easy right? I have found out that there is actually a really simple way to do this. MS Excel will parse any HTML formatted table with table rows and table cells as columns and cells. So what I did was to test if I could find code snippets to create tables from JSON formatted data and I did. Then I managed to make some code to actually export that HTML table to a file that the browser will think is a pure MS Excel file. The only thing you will need is a Data Collection to use, a button that someone will click on and a hidden html component with some code inside. That's it! It seem to work really well from my testing. So watch the video I just made for you all and download the source code for your HTML Component at the button of this post. I hope you will enjoy this, any feedback is greatly appreciated from you all. Code for HTML Component can be found here: https://github.com/andreaskviby/wixhtmlpages/blob/master/docs/wix-datacollection-excel-export.html #htmlcomponent #msexcel #excel #datacollection #button #export
